Additional Notes
Funded Childcare: Additional Voluntary Charges
It is important to know that government funding is not intended to cover the full cost of childcare. It does not include essential extras like meals and consumables. Consumables are optional items that are used up during the day as part of your child’s care, comfort, and wellbeing while at nursery. During funded hours, we offer a range of exciting, enhanced learning experiences. These activities are included in optional voluntary charges, which are separate from the funded hours. These charges are completely voluntary, and families may choose to provide their own.
Additional Voluntary Charges
| Description | Meals and Snacks | Consumables |
| Sessions | £8 | £1.50 |
Breakdown of consumables
- Diddi Dance: Fun dance and movement session to encourage physical activity.
- Festivities and celebrations: Seasonal events, parties, and themes celebrations.
- Art and crafts: Allows the children to explore their creativity and imagination by making things using different materials and techniques.
- Special visitors: These visitors help children learn about different roles in the community and provide exciting real-life learning opportunities.
Additional Funding Information
We stretch funding across 50 weeks of the year. If you require any additional hours over and above the funding entitlement hours these will be charged at our standard rate (please refer to the standard childcare fees).
If you are not eligible for the working parent offer you will still receive the 15-hour entitlement for all 3- and 4-year-olds from the term after your child turns 3 until they start school, irrespective of your income level, benefit status, or family circumstances.
If you or your child receives some additional forms of support, you may be eligible for 15 hours early learning for 2-year-olds under a separate scheme and you should speak to your local council and/or provider in the first instance. If you are eligible, you should still apply for the working parent entitlement, but you will receive 15 hours from each scheme (up to a maximum of 30 hours in total).
For each funded session, we ask parents to contribute towards our nutritional meals and snacks as well as consumables such as art and craft resources, as these are not covered by the funding we receive.
Please note: To remain eligible for the 30 hours scheme, parents must reconfirm their eligibility with HMRC every 3 months or when prompted.
Funding fees explained
At Farm Friends the entitlement is spread equally across the year, with a set amount deducted from your invoice each month. The year is split into three-
- September – December (Autumn Term)
- January – April (Spring Term)
- May – August (Summer Term)
We do not charge for Bank Holiday’s so it will not be detrimental to claim grant on these days.
Please see below an example of how a full day would be calculated using 30 hours funding.
